Good morning my dears and happy weekend. I want to write about the importance of kindness today. If there is one thing I can point to that is a definitive difference between Americans and Ticos it is the level of kindness shown to others.
Don’t get me wrong, there are very kind people in America and other western nations, and some Ticos who are all about the money. Exceptions always flow both ways but there is an overwhelming consensus that we are different in this way.
The default for Ticos is helping those who need it. The default for gringos is that we are afraid of strangers for the most part and would automatically assume someone asking for help may be trying to trick us or rob us or is a drug addict.
Now there are many reasons for this, and not everyone who displays these behaviors is necessarily a bad person. I don’t condemn people for being afraid. That’s one of the darkest behaviors I have seen through this whole ordeal with Covid. If people are scared and behaving certain ways because of it, there is a tendency to call them “sheep” or “weak” or something of the sort. If you’re seeing other working class people as your enemies, recognize this as divide and conquer propaganda that is as old as civilization itself. The rulers deserve our hatred. Not other common folks who are just trying to get by. ❤️
People also deserve our trust until they give us a reason not to give it.
If we are going to make it through these extremely difficult times, we are going to need each other and strong connections to people we trust. It’s the only way we are going to survive the 21st century as a species.

I have absolutely been loving this rainy season in Costa Rica. You can literally watch the environment get greener *while it’s raining.* Ever since I was a little girl growing up in Florida I would play in the heavy rains whenever I could. Some things never change.
My days here have been spent growing, just as my environment constantly does.
New daily rituals now include yoga/meditation, a couple hours of Spanish lessons, preparing insanely healthy, fresh and delicious meals, and getting to know the people in my community. For me, this is what living my best life looks like.
I have been practicing giving gratitude to *everything* that heals me. When it rains, I dance. When I wake up, I stretch and salute the sun.
When I eat, I pray- not in a religious way but in a sense of spiritual gratitude.
Friends, I hope you find reasons to be grateful today. If you are feeling ungrateful, do something really healthy and good for yourself or for someone else. You have to DO something to change your state of being. Give thanks every chance you get because life demands your awareness and your humility.

Especially in the present day, we are ultra atomized and cut off from each other, and ourselves. So few of us live in community now, but we all NEED that experience to be whole. The shame and guilt that so many of us feel for simply existing or for past mistakes is slowing killing us.
We all must heal from all of these things. Look at what these mentalities are doing to our only world.
So what does this have to do with you? First of all, it has inspired me to give all of you a free video. All you have to do it message me saying “solo” or “partnered.”
Imagine the people who didn’t read the whole thing missing out on that. 😁 This is my lesson to you to go deeper. Don’t just look at pictures passively and scroll. It’s bad for your brain and it’s bad for soul.
The other changes I am making is I am promising to turn around video requests sooner. I will be working on them intensely this week and if you’re waiting, you shouldn’t be much longer. I had a long list building up because honestly, I’ve been focused on healing.
This place is doing something to me that I never expected to happen, and while it is overall profoundly positive, there have also been dark moments of negative emotions detoxifying out of me. It’s been a roller coaster, but I always felt it was healing me the entire time.
I’m in a really good place now and I’m going to pour my whole self into creating amazing content and living in deeper service to you all.

I went there to see the house and the owner sent me home with bags of food. He grows all of this you see in the picture with me and just gave me all of this for free!
He also sells fruit in farmers’ markets and gave me what had to to be $30 worth of groceries in Costa Rica, and $100 worth of fresh produce in America, for $7.
I never knew there could be so many helpful, generous, loving people in one place. I’ve met more kindhearted people who will give you the shirt off their back in this town in one week, than I met in the whole of my travels throughout America.
