We planned a sunset photoshoot last night at the beach. I am quite honestly a bit inexperienced with various aspects of flash photography, especially related to gelling the flash for light balance as well as balancing exposure between the sun and exposing the subject. This picture didn't go quite as planned. I was really hoping for a more orange sky and in my head these reeds behind Itamar maybe weren't as dark. But it was my first go at it and honestly, it could be much worse.
For the second photo, Itamar encouraged me to try a few more things after the sun went down so I just turned him with ocean behind him and used the strobe for some fill light to kinda raise some of the shadows on him. It's obviously very subtle and you prolly can't even tell that a flash is being used but that's really kind of the point with these types of shots. In fact its not even a fantastic photo but you know, this is my OF and I'm gonna share this journey because I know some of you care beyond cocks and assholes :)
Aside from this we were very lucky to have a friend with us and he ended up doing a little impromptu video for us where I do a little explanation on light shaping. There's prolly nothing fantastic about the photo other than being a really good example of how far camera's have come along at taking low light photos.
