I’ve been playing around with vegetable glycerin (also known as glycerol) in some of my more recent body care recipes.💦 Vegetable glycerin comes from vegetable fats found in carrier oils like coconut oil! It is a natural humectant, so it works by drawing water from the air and into the skin.🤤 glycerin also creates a protective layer over the skin which will help protect moister loss! I love adding this stuff to my lotions/shaving creams/etc. 😋 Have you ever used/heard of vegetable glycerin before?

Ever heard of sodium lac tate?🤔 By definition it is the sodium salt or lactic acid. 🧂 It is considered very hygroscopic (a substance that absorbs moisture from its environment and improves water retention.) For this reason, I like to use it in some of my soap recipes! Because it is able to help water retention, it can improve the hardening of your bars of soap.😌 So if I am making a soap recipe that contains lots of liquid oils and soft butters, the soap may take a longer time to cure and harden. Adding sodium lac tate will help speed that process up!⏱😊

I use essential oils in a lot of my soaps and body care products! 💚Not only because of the beautiful scents it brings to the products, but they also offer antioxidant, bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal, antiparasitic, insecticidal and medicinal properties to the products as well. 🧪Some essential oils alone can be excellent natural preservatives in certain products. While using essential oils can be an amazing thing, they can however be both allergenic and or toxic to its users. 🙅🏻♀️The amount that you use and the way you apply essential oils is extremely important! I like to think of essential oils like medicine. Just like the medicines we take, dosage is important, as well as the way you apply/consume it. 👩🏻🔬
